Bring home a powerful symbol of resilience, identity, and royal legacy with this finely crafted sculpture of Duleep Singh, the last Maharaja of the Sikh Empire. Designed with precision and respect for historical detail, this piece makes a striking and meaningful addition to any space.
History:
Duleep Singh (1838–1893), often known as the “Black Prince of Perthshire,” was the youngest son of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the founder of the powerful Sikh Empire. He became Maharaja at a very young age following his father’s death, during a time of political instability and external pressures.
After the annexation of Punjab by the British following the Second Anglo-Sikh War, Duleep Singh was dethroned and taken into British custody. He was later brought to England, where he lived under the guardianship of Queen Victoria and became a prominent yet complex figure in British high society.
Despite being separated from his roots and heritage at a young age, Duleep Singh’s life story reflects a deep journey of identity, loss, and resilience. In his later years, he attempted to reconnect with his Sikh heritage and reclaim his legacy, making him a powerful and symbolic historical figure.
Today, Duleep Singh is remembered not only as the last ruler of the Sikh Empire but also as a symbol of cultural identity, displacement, and enduring strength.
